AfterLyfe vs Remento
Remento and AfterLyfe both help people preserve life stories without requiring them to write a memoir from scratch.
The main difference is what the family receives.
Remento turns newly recorded audio or video into written stories for a printed memory book.
AfterLyfe provides video stories, downloadable videos, posthumous release, personal messages, and family photos and home videos with their background stories.

Remento
A written memory book with QR-linked recordings
AfterLyfe costs $12.99 monthly or $99 yearly. Keyholder accounts are free, so loved ones do not need to purchase another subscription to request stories or receive, watch, and download shared content.
Remento currently charges $99 for one storyteller. That includes one year of prompts and recordings, unlimited collaborators, and one hardcover color book containing up to 200 pages.
Expanding a Remento book to as many as 380 pages costs an additional $30. Additional copies currently cost $69 for up to 200 pages or $99 for 201 to 380 pages. An e-book costs $49.99.
After the first year, Remento can be renewed for $99 yearly or $12 monthly. Existing recordings remain accessible and downloadable if the subscription is not renewed.
Remento supports audio and video, but recordings must be created through Remento’s Recording Studio. Its official help center says existing audio and video files cannot be uploaded.
AfterLyfe lets someone record new video stories and upload family photos, home videos, audio recordings, and documents they already have.
The member can then explain who appears in the file, what was happening, and why it matters. Without that background story, families may keep the file but lose its meaning.
AfterLyfe also allows personal messages and content intended for specific Keyholders. Members can share content during their lifetime or make it available after their vault opens.
Keyholders receive free accounts and can:
There is no fee for each Keyholder and no need to purchase additional copies for family members to receive the content shared with them.
Remento is a strong option for someone who wants:
Remento is especially good at turning spoken memories into a written family keepsake.
Remento may not be the right fit if you want to upload existing home videos or audio files, preserve documents, leave personal messages, control which loved one receives particular content, or schedule content for posthumous release.
Remento is also designed for one storyteller per book. Additional storytellers currently cost $99 each.
AfterLyfe is video-first and does not include a printed book. Its videos can be watched and downloaded directly by the Keyholders who receive them.
AfterLyfe also does not currently provide automatic transcription. Its focus is preserving the original stories, personal messages, family media, and the person telling them.
Choose Remento if the goal is:
“I want my parent or grandparent to speak their memories and receive a polished hardcover book.”
Choose AfterLyfe if the goal is:
“I want their video stories, personal messages, old photos, home videos, and background stories preserved and shared with the people they choose.”
